I think you can get those drying racks at a home store like Lowe's or Home Depot. I think Kmart has them... Target and Walmart probably do too.

Good luck

to suggest the nighty noodle diaper from Lizs Cloth. We use this with an aristocrat wool cover. It works great and lasts up to 12 hours. The pocket diapers didn't work for us after awhile either.

Also, if a drying rack is too cumbersome, I saw retractable clotheslines at Evilmart, er, Walmart, for $1.79. It was in sporting goods/camping right by the Sportwash and bug repellant.

OK, don't know what you have tried for nitghttime and I figure ya must not want to drop a lot of coin on a new system to find out it doesnt work (well, who does, :LOL ) but here's an idea that is fairly cheap.

I use CPFs with a Gerber prefold as a doubler for nighttime. It does not add bulk and seems to be just enough to get my super soaker ds thru the nite. I put Dappi nylon pull-on pants over the whole snappied or pinned lot. I figure you already have some CPFs since you use pocket dipes, the Gerber dipes are about $10 a dozen at Walmart and granitesmith on ebay sells Dappi pants for about $2.25 apiece.

Good luck!

I just want to second the nighty noodle with the arisocrat. I actually use a hemp prefold as a doubler, taking out the snap in doubler in the nighty noodle. I don't take any chances! I also lay a piece of microfleece on top to give that dry feeling.
I know you have had a ton of responses to this problem, but I just wanted to let you know that we have recently had our own cloth crisis, and MY dh has been at his wits end with me wanting to spend MORE money on yet another diaper............but I tell you, I have the super soaker of all the soakers, and pocket diapers are useless to us. useless! the pee finds its way right out of it! Nothing can get out of this wool pull up I tell you. The back of the diaper is actually still a little dry because most of the pee is in the hemp prefold.
Just wanted to give you some info from a frustrated cloth diaperer who KNOWS how you feel!!!
does that mean you arent selling off your stash?

:LOL totally kidding!

i was thinking about your post and wondering if i could ever give up cloth. i dont really think i could either. my babies do get rashes too and i try to air them out alot...but it can be very frustrating! my reasons for using cloth tie into the environment and other health factors too much for me to ever give it up though, even with the setbacks that do seem to exist for us.
we have had to use disposables at night with karina too...and im noticing right now that she is waking up all red from sleeping in a FB with a hemp insert and hemp prefold, so im somewhat in the same boat you are. not sure how to bulk up the absorbancy and keep her dry through the night. she is almost 3 now.

I used cotton fitteds at night with dd, with a wool soaker or buttsweater pants over top.

The fitteds I used were two layers cotton jersey and two layers cotton fleece in the body, with a four layer foldover soaker (2 jersey, 2 fleece) that made 8 layers when folded and a fleece liner... Not exactly the trimmest but not the bulkiest either. I tell ya, I had no leaks and it held alll night. And breathed.

I always used beeswax/olive oil balms and TTO water for rashes. One time, I used sposies on a trip, and dd pooped either in the middle of the night or early am...the poop was DRIED ON, seriously, caked HARD and DRY onto her butt in that sposie and it was horrendous. Worst rash i ever saw. Beeswax balm and air or a coverless fitted worked wonders.

What about a baking soda butt bath? (sorry, i didn't read the full thread where you quit cd, i dont know exactly what the rash issue is)

Thanks so much for the kind replys but I really dont want to invest anymore money in cloth for a night time system. however I do have a few Chinese prefolds on hand and a wool cover that I will try tonight and see what happens the rash is clearing up it looks better thank god. And to answer your question Cassandra Iam selling some of my stash Iam going to be using Chinese prefolds and wool covers. so I will need the money to get more prefolds.

I have some homemade cotton jersey doublers that are also very absorbant and cheap. I made them from a newer cotton tshirt that didn't fit dh. Four layers of tshirt jersey trifolded to equal 12 layers line dries just as fast as my infant cpfs and seems to be more absorbant.

just an idea, hth

good luck! I'm betting that wool instead of pul will really help that rash out. my dd's bum is always bright red after a few hours in pul.

I know you dont want to spend more money- but you said you are going to sell off some of your stash to go CPF and wool so I thought I would give you this link And this llink Both have Aristocrats- and I dont have one- but I have heard great things about them and you can see they have a high rise and a fit around the legs. If you sell off some of your stash that is not working maybe try some of those. I know it can get to the point of pulling your hair out when you have a soaking wet kid in a soaking wet bed ever morning- We have all be there- or at least most of us have. And you know, they grow and change so we just have to grow and change with them. Have you tired hemp- maybe put in a hemp soaker or even a few of them in you CPF at night- I also read on www.punkinbutt.com that they now have crochetted wool inserts for diapers that can go under the doubler and it works to make the wetness go back to the doubler so it holds the max before wetting the CPF- so you may get a better soak for overnight. But I am not sure- that is a new thing, maybe ask Heather about it- I am sure she tired it if she is selling it- kwim.

Just remember, CD doesn't have to be all or nothing...I totally respect everyone here who CD's all of the time, but I don't. I just started, and I feel much better about the times DS is in cloth, but if he occasionally wears a sposie it's not a big deal to me! So, if you are more comfortable using a sposie at night, that doesn't mean you have to give up cloth during the day!
