THIS is what I want...

I used to have these tie diapers... the only downfall is that the maker made most the ties to short. Otherwise, after 4 years the fit and ease was my favorite. I'm just talking style here- I wasn't actually fond of the prints. I'd probably prefer them to just be an unbleached diaper fabric without cutesy prints. Are there any WAHM's who make diapers like these or make daipers based on a picture and description?

I've tried to decribe these a million times before, but I just happened upon this photo in my external hardrive so for ONCE I have a pic to show :LOL

I don't know of any WAHMs that make them, but EcoBaby makes some like that in natural-colored sherpa and hemp/cotton blends.

The Ecobaby ones are fitted. The one that tarakay posted a pic of is like a flat, and they sell liners to place in the wet zone.
Very interesting. I have one more order to get out then I want to try this. I have a lil stripper so I dont htink she could get that off......

I cant wait.....
It is somewhat in between a contour and a fitted, like a contour with a little elastic in the leg area. The main thing is that they were somewhat straight like a contour when laid flat open, where as a fitted tends to bend and "pouch" from the elastic.

The thing I liked about it better than ecobaby (which I do like) is that 1) they had a better absorbancy- closer to a normal WAHM diaper. 2) They were a little narrower between the legs. And 3)the ties were wider and flatter and didn't have to go through the "loops" on the front. The wider, flatter ties I think helped them stay on I think.

These ones were older ones (these are a good 4-5 years old) before the external soaker was norm. It was all one piece. But I imagine a sewn in soaker would work just as well and make drying time shorter.

I'll PM you to

Do the ties get all tangled up in the wash?

what keeps the front part from just slipping out from under the ties?

I'm totally intrigued by this idea!
I made ones like this a few years ago for my houdini dd. I'm not on my home computer so no pics but they are fairly quik & easy to make.

Regarding the front coming down, occasionally hers did but it was usually because she was trying to take it off.

yeah, that's what i was wondering too.

i have a vintage (VERY OLD) pattern for a tie diaper, but it has loops in the front for the ties to attach to. i didn't like that idea so i put snaps on it. unfortunately, the wing droop is awful. i only made 1 dipe with the pattern and haven't gotten around to modifying it to my liking (as i usually do - LOL).
Sorry it took me so long to come back here... long story.

The diaper never shifted- the ties were wide rather than skinny and the material wasn't slippery. So it just gripped and stayed. Of course I was using it under proraps at the time, maybe some covers it wouldn't stay so well with.

The ties never tangles in the wash, I think because they were wide and flat instead of thin and small.

I've tried other tie diapers, and I think the key is in wide flat ties instead of shoelace like ties.
