What's your wash routine? For regular laundry we use 1 tblsp of detergent only.

I currently do a cold wash with just BS then a hot wash/cold rinse with 2 tsp of Tide and 1/2 c vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser + 1 additional rinse.

Ian's little bum was a bit red and I noticed suds in the last rinse so I did another cold rinse and will reduce the Tide to 1tsp. Does this sound similar to any of you with water softeners?

I do a quick cold soak and wash, then 1/2capful of sportswash in the hot wash with one extra rinse.

eta. I quit using Tide after the detergent burn.

Keep one thing in mind the softer your water the more suds you will get some have nothing to do with soap residue. Try filling a waterglass with a high pressure of water or if you use calagon add a bit then add water and it will pobably also sud up. What I like to check more is how the water looks. If its really soap residue the water will be more grey like a sink of dirty water, once well rised the water will be a lot clearer. There might be some light sudding but now its most likely the softener and not the detergent.
