DD will be 3 in June and nurses for naps, bedtime, during the night and maybe once or twice a day for 20 seconds. Most of the time i am fine with it and very happy to still be nursing her - but there are moments that i feel annoyed and 'touched out.' Dh and i are planning on ttc #2 in August - so she will be almost 4 when the new baby is born. I am pretty sure that i have no desire to tandem a 4 yo and newborn.

I feel like weaning her now would be easier for all involved, because the last thing i want is for her to be resentful of a sibling for getting to nurse when she cant. I'm also trying to loose weight which i apparently have a horrible time doing while nursing, and i kind of have a desire to have my body back for a few months before getting pregnant again.

Are there mamas here that have done this? Or have experince with a 4 year old and newborn?

I feel sad to wean her - and i of course would do it very gently - but at this point i am feeling pretty done.

Thanks!

Chances are that if you continue to nurse and get pregnant, the weaning will happen on its own during the pregnancy. After all, you're talking about 18 months or so from now, right? That's a long time and a lot can happen. I'd keep nursing -- you say you're mostly fine with it, but only occasionally touched out and annoyed, which I think it very typical -- and let nature take its course.

At any rate I definitely wouldn't worry about tandeming yet.
