Hi...

Today I had a threatened miscarriage - I passed a large clot, and blood, but with no pain or cramping. I went to the hospital and they did a scan and everything looked okay. They also did an internal and said that my cervix was closed.

The bleeding has stopped and now it is just brownish discharge which I understand is the blood from earlier today just making its way down.

I am 13 weeks today, so thought I was pretty much out of the danger zone now. At the moment I'm on high alert, and worried that something is going to go wrong in the next couple of days and the threatened miscarriage will progress into a miscarriage. How long after a threatened miscarriage is the threat gone?

I'm not sure at what point they consider the threat gone. I had a threatened m/c at 6 weeks with dd3, and after a couple days of bleeding and cramping it went away and I never had any more problems. If they did a u/s and the baby was fine and so was your cervix, I'd think the threat would be over once the bleeding stopped.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'd like to give you a and some hope.

I had a threatened miscarriage after gushing blood at 14 weeks. The rest of my pregnancy was normal. My baby is now a healthy 5 year old!

Well things seem to have calmed down, no more bleeding or anything, but i'm just so spooked! I guess it takes a while to get over a scare and get your confidence back. Last night I got a bit teary because I thought about how sad I was that my best friend couldn't be there for me (she's living in London at the moment), and I thought about how much I could do with a hug and the comfort she would have given me.

Then this morning I had a nightmare that the bleeding was back and I passed a clot the size of an orange. I woke up scared and had to go check, but there was nothing there.

I am going for another scan tomorrow so they can see if they can find the cause for the bleeding, and hopefully they will be able to tell the me the results of all the blood tests then too. I had my NT scan a week ago, so it'll be good to see whether the baby is growing enough too.
