I feel like an idiot that I can't figure this out

My baby is eight months old and ready to move to three meals a day. We do a mix of finger food and homemade purees. When my son was tiny, he had a fruit meal, a grain/veggie/bean meal, and a yogurt meal. My daughter doesn't like yogurt, leaving me unable to figure out what to feed her. She loves veggies and grains, but I worry if I give her the same thing too often, she will get tired of them. It sounds so silly, but I am really stressed...

So what does your meal routine look like for a baby who is ready for three meals? For lots of reasons, she does not eat what we eat yet. We don't plan on introducing wheat or eggs for a few months and we like lots of spicy/seasoned foods. So I really do prefer cooking for her separately at this point.

Why not try a little of what you are eating? You might be surprised. Mr Toona cooked up a whole batch of Indian food (well as best as he could make it - we never can seem to master the flavors we've had at restaurants) and DD (9 mo) really enjoyed it. She even seemed to be ok with a little bit of spicy heat. I'm just not that organized to make separate meals, but this really works for us, plus I think it's good to expose a baby to many different flavors (within your limits for age appropriate, of course).

My boys are big eaters yet they weren't eating 3 meals a day until after a year old! Just feed small bites of any non-allergenic foods that you are eating.

DD is 7mos and eats just like yours, no worries! We just feed her what we are having, minus the salt and milk. I have grits a lot for breakfast (I grew up in the south, bear with me) and she LOVES them, so she has that for breakfast with me. At lunch she might have noodles and some tiny chicken pieces if we're having chicken noodle soup, at dinner she'll have some of our rice, meat, and veggie, usually with very little sauce or seasoning. It's not that we're avoiding it, it's just (IMO) overwhelming to their systems. She does eat regularly seasoned foods sometimes, especially asian cuisine (curry, stir fry, kimchi, etc) as is DH's background.

Hope that helps?

Ours start eating with us at six months, eating table foods (whatever we're eating). So if we have three meals plus snacks, so do our babies. It's easy, I don't have to "think" about it, I just give them the food. They have all loved the spices and we have no allergies, so we don't have to restrict any foods. They can have literally anything the rest of us are eating. No special preparation here.

My dd's routine goes like this. She is 9 months old now.

Breakfast:
Cereal mixed w/ either fruit or squash or sweet potato with a dash of cinnamon.
Lunch:
Yogurt or applesauce with an whole grain arrowroot cookie
or soup crackers w/ shredded cheese
Dinner:
Usually whatever we have provided its healthy or
since i have a lot of homemade puree i put some on pasta or rice.

I also let her try what ever we are having when i feel its ok.

My friend takes a can of chicken vegetable soup and rinses the broth off to get rid if the excess salt and gives her baby the veggies noodles and chicken pieces. I havent tried it yet but her baby loves it.

I try and include some of each food group and each colour at each meal. So if the finger food is carrots the mush might be zucchini and rice, or finger food is broccoli and bread and mush is pear and cottage cheese.
