My 3 month old ds has been unusually fussy and restless the past few days and he's also started gnawing on everything (binky, fist, breast and my finger), is it possible he is teething? and what would be safe for me to give him as far as pain relief? My sister gave me a mesh food thing for frozen bananas but he's so young I'm nervous about giving it to him. Any ideas?

Hi-- I don't usually frequent this forum but I saw the thread title and had to reply. I was so surprised when my son cut his first teeth at 10 weeks old. I thought it usually happened around 6-8 months but its definitely earlier for some babies. I'm not sure about the pain relief but the symptoms you noticed certainly do sound like they could be from teething.

Both my children got their first teeth at 12 weeks. Wet frozen washcloths (just wet part of it so there's a non-icy part to hold on to) are good to chew on, or wooden toys. Plus, of course, just nursing, nursing, nursing! It often comes and goes in waves, sometimes a day or two apart, so you can expect some relief in amongst the hard parts! Hope those suckers bust through soon!

my little guy's first two teeth are coming through at 5mo...i was caught off guard since his brother was 8mo! i would avoid giving your babe anything but breastmilk before 6mo.

My dd's first teeth came through at 15 weeks old.

What about some frozen breastmilk in the mesh teether?

Hylands Teething Tablets for pain relief!! They are the best- safe, effective, homeopathic.

Amber necklaces for pain relief as well. We got a great necklace for our ds at inspiredbyfinn.com

My last suggestion is to get him a Sophie the Giraffe- the only teether my ds was able to hold young. I wish we had discovered Sophie when dd was teething!
