They could be intimidated by the Kozy. The ergo looks totally mainstream and more like what they are used to seeing but still different enough to ask about it. They would probably feel more comfortable approaching someone in an ergo. Just my theory. I get approached quite a bit in my Kozys and my BH and Napsack as well, but I rarely use the ergo so I don't have much to compare it to as far as getting comments goes.

i got asked about my ergo LOL.
i can go out for 2 weeks straight with my kozys or sling and not a single comment, but three times in the past two days i've had people PRAISE my ergo.
"oh wow, what a beautiful carrier."
" i love your carrier."
" is that comfortable, it looks wonderful."
so forth and so on. they all wanted to know what it was and where i got it. i thought it was crazy. i think my kozys are SO MUCH more beautiful, but no one ever comments POSITIVELY about them.
one day last week, when i had my girls at ballet class, a mom had her son in an ergo ( front carry) and i had my youngest in one of my kozys ( back carry) and a pregnant woman wanted to know all about her ERGO, but didn't ask a single question about my KOZY. i was really bummed
