My DS just had his third birthday, and all at once he has 3 molars popping up! He had one come in around the end of July... It gave us a few sleepless nights. Now that there are three coming in, he is having a really hard time coping. He's not sleeping well, waking up for a 15-30 minute crying jag almost every night, and the nights he does sleep through aren't cutting it... He's got dark circles under his eyes. I don't like commercial painkillers, so have been giving him an herbal tea before bed, and it has helped... Largely Catnip, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, and a pinch of Passionflower. I don't think it's helping the pain much, as these mostly have a sedative and calming action. I know that Willow Bark is supposed to work wonders for pain... Is it safe for a three year old? Any other suggestions that are cheap and easily available? TIA!

Hyland's Teething Tablets might help. They are marketed for babies, but they work on all people. My 6 year old sister found them effective when she was having tooth pain.

My kiddos didn't respond well to Hyland's teething tabs... but on the last tooth that my youngest had come in I finally tried homeopathic arnica and that did the trick.

hmmm, since he is almost 3 maybe I check to see if he those molars are in yet...

I heard marvelous things about Hyland's when he was teething as a babe, but he never responded to them either. I'm not bashing homeopathy, but I tend to stick to the stuff that actually gets something substantial in to him. I guess I've not explored homepathy to it's fullest. I'll have to try the Arnica.

I'm surprised that he has teeth coming in this late... I thought he was done! I never counted or anything. He definitely has teeth coming in, poking through his gums actually. Just the sharpest little points right now, but they are working their way in. I guess he's just a little late in the tooth game. I don't think they are "extra", as they each have their own space and nothing is crowded or crooked looking... Just little teeth making their entrance, and causing my poor little guy(and his very preggo and sleepy mommy ) lots of grief.
