Well, I finally figured out where Katja's nasty eczema-like rash was coming from. I could have sworn I checked the box before, but maybe I didn't. Or maybe they just recently started adding enzymes, because her rash didn't start until September.
So, how many times to I have to wash the diapers before they're safe again? And what should I use? Last night I gave them a cold pre-wash, hot wash, cold rinse, cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse, cold rinse using only borax and a little eucalan put into the first prewash. Is this enough? I am definitely due to make some more diapers (actually, I'm making her training panties 'coz she poops in the toilet now) anyway, but I honestly don't know when I'll get them done, and I'd really like to salvage what I have. Any advice?

Tide has always been a problem for me, makes me itch so much. It took me years to figure it out. When my kids were all itchy too. We are all allergy, sensitive skin people. I found this at Rainbow Whole Foods when I lived in Mississippi. I love it. It even has lavender in it and soy fabric softener in it too. I found it at whole food store up here too. I got this link so you can see it.

http://www.ecos.com/Merchant2/mercha...duct_Code=2372

Tide is pure evil. It also contains a chemical that can eat through plastic (and has been proven to do so) ever notice you get a sample of tide with every new washer? Scary eh?

I would think a few hot washes should give you a good clean diaper.
Also a little trick if you are still worried, lower your water level like even with the dipes and really beat them around for a few seconds with the lid up and watch, you will be amazed at the suds.....

hi, just came across this post and am curious about the enzymes... what do they do exactly? i use Tide Free as well for my diapers and my son has eczema but this is the first that I heard of this. he has a red patch below his belly button that won't go away. i thought it might be the detergent so I use even less now and do an extra rinse, but maybe I should switch detergents?
