I need your help. I know NOTHING about gardening, and this is my first time trying to grow anything. I started some seedlings (tomato, chives, etc) last week in egg cartons. They are growing really well, but now I notice tiny white bugs crawling around in the dirt. I bought the dirt at the hardware store. Do I have to throw this out? What do I do? I have the seedlings inside my house so I don't want bugs in there.

I'm guessing they are springtales, teeny, tiny little hopping, white bugs that live in the soil everywhere. Springtales are harmless to both you and your plants. They will stay on your soil where it is moist and there is food for them, so you really do not need to worry about them spreading about the house (unless your home is carpeted with grass that is
).

Deep breaths mama. We've been conditioned by the chemical companies that all little buggy critters are harmful. It helps them sell more poisons. But many of these critters are either good or neutral and can be left alone.
