So I have a new blender (VitaMix knock-off) and a source for truly raw almonds at less than $6 lb. I want to make nut butter!

Do I just make crispy nuts then grind them up? What about sprouting...would that be a better idea?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

i like it sprouted with a touch of sea salt. you can add a couple of macadamia nuts to make it more spreadable. i think it's because of their high oil content but just a handful, like 4 or 5 will make it softer and much easier to spread.

my personal favourite is cashew butter though...yum.

you can also make a lot of nut pate recipies, soak the nuts over night and add various seasonings, usually shoyu/ginger/garlic/green onions is a good blend.

if you search the raw food sites you can find lots of yummy stuff, of course, it's usually vegan but their but recipes are usually really good,
