Hi all. I am glad to see this forum.
We have 20 acres in CO taht we are moving to in two weeks!!
We are off the grid, w/cisterns....
We have spent the past two summers out there, so at least it's not totally all new...but I've always lived in relative "city" surroundings....and now we will be pretty far from anyone. I'm really excited but also worried.
I am already hooked up w/a HS'ing group in a nearby town but our closest town is 15 minutes away and THIS town (where the HS'ers are) is an hour. I know it's a start but I am worried about the isolation, mostly for me. DH is pretty solitary and happy that way,and I've got the three kids but geez....dunno...guess I just would love to hear any tips or suggestions anyone has to throw my way if you've BTDT.
My current strategies are to get really involved in the country stuff i've been looking forward to....our garden (we're planning on doing the year-round garden stuff that Elliott COleman writes about), cooking more w/the kids, studying my interests, and in general doing stuff around the house. ALso to attend the weekly meetings w/the HS'ing group.
TIA country mamas!
