Whats the difference between being lazy, and sitting around all day and being depressed and sitting around all day?

I was terribly depressed before and then had a whole month of high high preformance cleaning and energy etc. (And I was totally cheerful and happy) and now it seems I am back to tired and sitting around all day. I can get us out of the house but its a struggle.

I am also entering the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

I dont know if I am lazy, depressed, pregnant, or what?

I do know I have been extremley low functioning the last month (and most of the last 10 years) and I only get the bare minimun done around the house. (sometimes not even that)

I have Zoloft I can take but that "up" month has me concerned. The up month was the first month of me taking a super iron/B suppliment but its not working like it was anymore....I am confused.

Jenny,

the B-vitamin thing is a good clue. B6 is one of the most important vitamins for mental health. I wonder if you just increased the B6 if you could regain some of what you felt.

also, if you want to try something else to help, Fish oil is a great option and it is proven to be as affective as meds in some patients. You typically need to take 6 pills of fish oil daily, what you're looking to get is 1200 mg of the Omega-3 called EPA. You're not trying to get 1200 mg of fish oil (which is a common dosage), but you need to look at the back and find the amount of EPA in each pill and take enough to get 1200 mg of that particular nutrient, as I said, it's usually 6 pills daily to achieve this amount. The good thing about fish oil is it also has the omega-3 DHA, which if you look at formula cans is one of the things they boast containing. That's because it's key in healthy brain formation for babies, so it's also good for the baby!

that I don't know. I want to say that the mercury collects in the tissue, but I don't know if the fish oils are affected or not. Ask your midwife or doctor their opinion on the subject.

My midwife has me taking 4 fish oil per day and she wants me to work up to 8 per day. She said nothing about a risk of mercury.

As for your original question, sometimes it's very difficult to tell the difference between lazy and depressed. It's more internal. If you can get off the couch and do the dishes, but you aren't, you might be just lazy (or pregnant). If you really can't get up (or don't even realize the dishes need to be done even though they're piling up), you may be depressed.

My DH is biplor2 and I have hard time figuring out when he's being lazy and when he's depressed. For me a clue is where he is: If he's on the couch, he's probably depressed. If he's at his computer, he's probably being lazy.

Are you taking the Zoloft or do you just "have it" in case you decide to take it? If you are taking it, maybe you need a check-up to see if your dose is right.

I would try the fish oil in the mean time. My MW said you get faster results with it than Zoloft. Fish Oil ~ 1 week; Zoloft ~ 3 weeks. If you feel better after a week on the Fish Oil, maybe you can put off the Zoloft or avoid it?

I'm on both
