I'm having a problem with loose stools. From what I've read most ladies are pretty constipated right now, but I'm having the opposite problem. I'm getting tired of running to the outhouse with emergencies... Has anyone else been experiencing this? Is it normal?

Are you over-fibered?? I go back and forth, and a lot of it has to do with how much raw veggie I've consumed. Keep drinking lots of water in case you've got a tummy bug your body is trying to deal with, and maybe put some BRAT into your diet, like we do for the kiddos.

I go either way. I'm also taking probiotics though, and drinking a lot. Does anyone you know have a mild stomach virus now?

My baby is also in a funny position where it stays in one spot for a loooong while, and suddenly shifts position and then no matter what it is- constipation or otherwise, I need to get to a bathroom FAST. And then I think I put DH to shame, quantity-wise.

I'd have to say I'm in the boat of not recognizing my own formerly very regular digestive tract anymore, either. As long as it's not diarrhea, and you're not going very frequently, I wouldn't be too concerned. Keep drinking water!

I was that way until I started taking my iron supplement. I don't think low iron has anything to do with loose stool, but more iron certainly has a nice way of firming the stool up!

That is why so many formula fed babies tend to be constipated. They are getting all that iron.

Bananas and applesauce work well, too. I know.... My son has been on the BRAT diet for a few days because of the same (kind of...may be a bug) problem.

I don't think I'm getting too much fiber, I am drinking alot of water. My Rainbow Light vitamins have good enzymes that have continually kept things soft, but not to this degree. I'm sorry- I don't know what the BRAT diet is? Oh, and my iron levels stay high (we are carnivores)... I'm kind of thinking that it has something to do with hormones, as this started when my pelvis started majorly loosening up and I began getting clumsy.

Toast (white bread is much better than wheat)

It is the diet for babies and children who are sick and runny. I find that it helps when I get a little too loose.

And lay off anything really greasy. I know it sounds silly, but if it's greasy, it just slides right on through. So do lean meats, no sausage, all that kind of stuff.

I've also heard it called the BRATY diet, the "Y" being for yogurt for the natural probiotics that will restore equilibrium in your intestinal bacteria. So try eating some natural, plain yogurt (yummy in a smoothie) to balance things out.

I've been having the same problem for over a week now, but I think in my case it's definitely related to the fact that I just spent a week in the Dominican Republic and must have picked up some funky bug or eaten something that is still in my system. I'm just letting it ride for now, but man, the 'roids are back with a vengeance!

I second or third.. or more the BRAT diet. I fluctuate a lot this time around and it does help. I also second Bethany's suggestion about avoiding anything greasy. My morning fried eggs and sausage sometimes helps move things along if it's been a day or so.

on the plus side.. if it is caused by things shifting around in there you can be grateful you won't be "clogged" when it's time. With my last I had problems the whole pregnancy going (only one that was like that) and knew as soon as I was pushing things would "flow freely".. they did and dh has never let me live it down.

I have either been at one end of the pooping spectrum or the other this pregnancy! I try to go easy on the belly as much as possible and pretty much follow the BRAT diet when I feel like I have had a few to many trips to the loo.

I've been having some troubles here too. However, I drink at least 12 huge glasses of water a day, and that's helping to move things along...
