So call me crazy but I feel like I have been called to do this. Would be out of the realm of possibility to have it be par of the course that when you have a lil boy; before you get handed that paper work to mame him, that you should be REQUIRED to watch the video, with sound and be TOLD, because people would skim reading material, that circing is unessacery, stating ALL the facts and to give moms AND dads the facts, the real facts before they go through with this horriable procedure?
How would I get this idea off the ground and are there any Lil Rock moms out there that would want to help/join me. Don't want to get high on any horse but I REALLY want to do something.

I think if maybe we wanted to set up on our free groups like Parents Do you know that you all know if you think you know all then Come to this "meeting' and we will discuss parenting topics/vids with you.

I agree pamplets, links to places are more likely not the answer because half the time those stuff could go thrown in the garbage or passed by because I tried that kinda route with my cousin which I should have did the "show a picture during an actual circumcision' maybe that would have 'swayed her of matter of belief on the net truth pictures.

I think Pictures, Vids on the matter do more better on understanding.

I bet you could also 'request' childbirth educators to show an actual 'circ video in the class state alot of parents are asking to see what is involved in this procedure .

Another way to go about doing this is to promote a change in hospital policy or how doctors handle the info. Start at one hospital and then get others to pick it up-- or to get medical insurance to drop it, too. If doctors have to explain it is not covered by medical ins, it gives them oppty' to discuss the issue.

You might not be able to require a video, that might be optional, but you can sure as heck require informed consent and suggest/demand the informed consent be leaning towards pro-intact or at least neutral.

If there are hospitals out there that already do this, we could see if we can get a sample policy to present/modify/promote. Also, Canadian hospitals or maybe Australian (since RIC was more common and declining in both places, and medical ins. no longer covers it) might already have policies that would be easily modified.

Then make the case that hospitals need to cover their butts on this issue and a uniform policy is the best way to do it.

JMO, and it would be helpful to organize locally, but if you are willing to do this for Arkansas take all the help you can get to get a sample policy or procedure and then we can spread the word.

Just some thoughts.
