We just bought my son (almost 22 mos) a toddler bed. We are expecting a new baby in February and buying another crib just seemed silly to me. I knew he wouldn't do very well on a larger mattress (we have a twin he could use) because he usually sleeps pressed up against the rails of his crib). And, I am a nervous nelly about him being close to the floor because he broke his arm about 6 mos ago.

Anyhow, he seemed excited about it, he kept saying "NEW NEW BED!" and was thrilled with the concept of being able to get on and off himself. However, we put him to sleep on it last night and he woke up after an hour, screaming and clearly disoriented as to where he was. I'm sure it will take some time to adjust, I just don't want to push him to sleep on it too early if he isn't ready. I'm prepared to use the pack and play as a crib for the new baby if she outgrows the bassinet and my son isn't ready to be in his big boy bed yet.

If you have experience with moving your toddler out of their crib, when did you introduce the new bed and how did it go? Was there a lengthly adjustment period? Thanks for your input , ladies!
