Just need to commiserate. Any one feel like they are living in debris? My 21 month old must put everything I give him to eat on the floor first - mostly snack food (not ready to self feed soft foods like applesauce and yogurt yet). I am constantly stepping on crumbs and things that go crunch under foot and turn to crumbs. I am always vacuuming thje mess all up, just for it to be replaced by the next day. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I am a neat freak, but I have an ant problem and must try and keep the food mess to a minimum to keep it under control. He is too young to understand that I do not want crumbs on the floor, so I don't get mad at him or anything (sigh). I only wish I could control the debris.

:LOL

I know exactly what you mean... sometimes we joke about the "clean-up crew", which is our two cats... unfortunately they only have the appetite for a few cracker crumbs... or O's...
we should get a dog!

I'd like to extend the debris to non-food items, as well... puzzle pieces, books, blocks, magnets, doll clothes and shapes from a shape sorter. Can't seem to keep up w/ her!

well, I'm right there with you. I am the mistress of clutter control. I love to vacuum (why did that feel so good to admit?). You do your best and the next day it comes back. I love when my FIL comes over and his dog cleans up the floor under the high chair. The down side is that the dear doggie leaves a lot of hair!

My new favorite device is my Bissell Sweeper! I feel like it is a miracle.

About $20 bucks at someplace like Target or online, completely mechanical (ie no motor, electricity or battery). It is really lightweight, really easy to use and works as well as a vacuum, at least on our hardwoord floors). These cool little brushes pick up everything from cracker crumbs to kitty litter. I'm not sure why it works so well, but it does.

I think it's so much easier to get out of the closet and use than a vaccuum for quick cleanups, and there's no noise. The best part is my DS (2 yrs) LOVES to push it around too. So usually I clean up the big mess then he pushes it around too. Who knows if he actually is picking up many of the crumbs but it's certainly good practice.

Wow!! I'm thrilled to see this post. My husband vaccums meticulously and yet, AND YET, lately, we've discovered a couple of stray ants crawling on our living room window.
: I was aghast but my husband said he's positive the pests are here because of DS's crumbs (they get everywhere). DH is planning to rip out everything and vaccum every inch of our house. He doesn't want 'ant traps' because they are so poisonous. I'm embarrassed to admit there are bugs in our house but I'm certain it's because of DS. He gets his little crumbs everywhere. We have an open concept (too open!) house and there are no distinctions between living room and kitchen and things just get scattered. At least I know I'm not alone in my "crumby" existence.

I can relate!! My dd has some GI problems and doesn't eat by mouth at all (tube fed). However she loves to taste and chew foods. She will wait until they are mush and spit them out, so I am always stepping on lots of interesting mushy bits. :LOL We have a dog too, and tile throughout the house so it's easy clean up at least.

My ds too! The first thing he does when I give him something is to dump it out on the floor or throw it down! I cringe inside every time because I know my floors aren't clean enough to eat off of. :LOL We have ants too, and our vacuum is on the fritz. I will mention that Bissel to dh as we can't afford an expensive one.

I think some days I could have an entire meal between my toes. Yummy!!! Ds loves to throw whatever it is that he is eating right in the floor. No matter how many times I pick up crumbs they seem to spontaneously multiply. It wasn't so bad when it was crackers and O's but now we've thrown fruit and noodles into the mix. I'm not real fond of the squishy stuff between the toes. Gotta get a dog, maybe the neighbor would let me borrow one of theirs for after meals.

Well i LOVE to vacuum. My dh bought me a brand new kirby & spent $2200.00 & it is the best investment!!! I loved to vacuum always though. hmm my dog lives outside so no help on her eating the crumbs & DS is allergic to cat so.... unless our fisdh learn to jump in & out of the fishtank looks like i'll continue to vacuum my 3 times a day.

My friends think i'm nuts to love to vacuum....... i can't explain why but i love it!!
