Well, now that I am diapering my last toddler for naps and night only, I am getting interested in prefolds. I always used them (in a pinch mostly) but now I'd like to have things a lot simpler.

The main problem is that she's too big! I tried to snappi on a toddler prefold the other day, and it barely made it around her. She is a bit over 30lb with a long rise.

Can a toddler get too big to snappi? Do they make a bigger size of snappi? Or am I going to have to (gasp) pin her?!

TIA

you could try a couple of things:

1. get some older, stretched out snappis on the tp - these will be longer than new ones

2. fan out the front of the prefold across your daughter's belly to get more coverage

I had difficulty getting a Snappi on my 23 lb. 2 yr old without it digging into her hips. So I got rid of them, and jumped right into pinning. Took a few times to get it right, but I LOVE pinning now. DD wears pinned UBIPF's coverless all the time now.

Snappis are only one-size. So you can either pin, or fold the prefold so you don't need to pin (in thirds), and just lay it in a good fitting wrap.

I've done this. It works really well.

Hmm, I have 2 snappis that I use for my 30-pound 2.5 year old and they are almost too stretched out for him! I don't get any red marks unless I use them overnight, so I use pocket fitteds overnight under wool.

You just have to stretch them out really well.

I can still snappi a premium prefold around my almost 33 pound 2 year old. I fan the front out (like a PP said) and my Snappis are pretty stretched out.

Thank you for the replies - I do feel like an idiot but always appreciate how patient everyone is here!!

I've just been doing newspaper folds and also realize that my snappis are probably too fresh - I didn't use them enough when dd was smaller, I guess!
