Something strange is going on with my almost 2.5 year old. I put her down for her nap at 1:00 as usual. She sleeps in a crib and I put several books in the crib with her as she likes to read (after we read together) before falling asleep. She fell asleep after about 1/2 hour, slept for an hour and a half and when I went in to get her up at 3:00, she was awake and looking at her books. I asked her if she was ready to get up and she said "Mommy come back later?" I asked her if she wanted to stay in her crib and she said yes so I said okay and went out of her room, leaving the door open. She called to me to close the door, so I did. Honestly, I'm amused, but now I've been checking on her every ten or fifteen minutes and she is still telling me to come back later. Is this a game other moms have experienced? I don't like leaving her in her crib alone, but she seems to be enjoying herself. Is this strange???<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:

DD doesn't have a crib because she cosleeps but she does tell me to go away when she wants to hang out by herself sometimes. I think its great that she wants to be alone in her own thoughts - for both of us. I just keep checking in to make sure she isn't doing anything she isn't supposed to but she never is, she is usually just chilling out.

Sometimes they just like a little solo time. On the rare occasions when my 2yo wants to be alone (and we're not at a busy public place where she's telling me to "go away mama!"), I let her be, and go do my own thing.
