Any good home remedies? The area next to her big toe looks red and inflamed and a piece of the nail has split off partially from the rest. She doesn't want me to touch it (no big surprise, she never wants her toes touched), and I'd rather avoid the doctor if we can. Can we soak in salt water or something like that?
Thanks.

My DS had one on each big toe and I just left it alone and they grew out on their own. If you take her to the doc's he might want to rip her toenail out, ouch.

I had mine ripped out several times as a teenager and it just kept coming back. Finally I had a local and surgery to remove the nail bed permanently on that side of my toe. I now think it was caused by too much running in my tight soccer shoes!
