<span><b>Best of luck on your appoint.!<br>
I hope you will get some answers, or at least some leads.<br><br>
Have a list of questions that you may have. It is near impossible to remember everything when you are at the dr,'s office.<br><br>
Please keep us posted.<br></b></span><br><span><b>Mary</b></span><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

I am FURIOUS right now. We just got home. Here's what happened. I went in with all of ds's birth records (it has some history on his bio mom in it). I had a psych report, a pneumogram report from when he was a few months old....I mean I had IT ALL.<br>
Dr. comes in, introduces himself, sits down.<br><br>
Dr. "Is he up to date on all his shots?"<br>
Me : no, we have an exemption.<br>
Dr. which ones?<br>
Me uhhhh religious and philosophical<br>
Dr. no, which ones wont you give....all of them?<br>
me yes<br>
Dr. you know the benefits outweigh the risks, right?<br>
me ummm no<br>
Dr. well the virus or bacteria or whatever isnt live and it just works<br>
me: uhhhhhhh?????<br>
Dr. are you concerned with the chicken cells?<br>
me: One of my concerns is the fetal cells<br>
Dr. well you know they arent aborting fetuses for that now.....stem cell research isnt .....uhhh ....those fetuses are dead now....<br>
me: ummmmmm ok....but can we get back to why we're here.....(this is a pediatric neuro)<br>
Dr. yes but make sure you talk to your pediatrician about this....i'm sure she'll want to know and I'm sure she'll tell you what I just told you.......<br><br>
That's just how the appt started....it went downhill from there.....<br><br>
He asked me 4 questions about my son.....and then told me he does NOT have autism because if he did, he wouldnt be communicating, he would be staring at objects and he would make inappropriate noises all the time, not just some of the time...<br>
He doesnt have FAS because he doesnt have the facial features......(dr. is so beyond ignorant that I wanted to get up and leave at this point)<br>
Dr goes on to say that maybe Ds is SPOILED and that's why he has problems. Dr refused to look at ANY of ds's medical records or psych report and kept shaking his head and rolling his eyes at me!!!!!<br><br>
The kicker was when ds tried to open the door to leave, Dr. tells him to stop and to sit down so ds complies and Dr says "Oh he doesnt have ADHD because if he did he wouldnt have listened to me". <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/banghead.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="banghead"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/banghead.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="banghead"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/banghead.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="banghead"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hammer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hammer"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hammer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hammer"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hammer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hammer"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hammer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hammer"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hammer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hammer"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/splat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="splat"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/splat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="splat"><br><br>
He then tells me he doesnt know what self regulatory disorder is and I need to talk to a psychologist.......<br><br>
I have been waiting for months for this stupid appt. I was told he would be able to refer us to the clinic at UCI where they have done extensive research on prenatal exposure. He said he knew nothing about such program and that he thinks ds's problems might not even be due to prenatal exposure....Ok, I'm done........thanks for letting me vent and I'm going to go scream into a pillow now!

Oh my! That is awful! It astounds me that some doctors ever make it through medical school. I am so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I know it is awful to gear yourself up for a much awaited appointment, just to have it be a waste of time and $$$. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug">

It really sucks to waste your freaking time. It really, really sucks to be made to wait months and months before wasting your freaking time. But to be made to wait months and months to waste your freaking time when it means your child isn't being evaluated and treated just really, really is beyond words. I'm so sorry.

Unbelievable! I'm so sorry. My daughters first neuro was a similar dolt who would just shake her head at our vax exemption and go on about "nasty germs". Stupidly we went back to her three or four more times because she was considered a top doc at a top Epilepsy Center in NY. (Come to find out she wasn't even giving us the right diagnosis!) Hope you are able to find someone better very soon.

OMG I would be absolutely furious! I'd write letters of complaint to the neurology board, etc because his conduct was out-of-line. Neurologists aren't vaccinators...asking is standard but he should have left it at the "no". Grrr so so sorry!

Wow.....just wow. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/bigeyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="bigeyes"><br><br>
That's incredible.<br><br>
Are you in an area with a different hospital? Possibly a children's hospital? Because I really think you need to go to another department--any place that would employ this guy is not to be trusted.<br><br>
I'm so sorry you were all set for this appointment and he let you down like this. I can't believe he was like that.<br><br>
If you'd like to get him evaluated for the issues you mentioned, could your pediatrician refer you to a neuropsychology center for kids? That would probably be a place where people would listen to your concerns and have a better understanding of the issues you're worried about.

I am SO SORRY! It's awful to wait months for an appointment you think is going to help, only for it to be such a waste of time!<br><br>
What state are you in? Maybe we can give you personal recommendations if you're in the same one one of us is in.
