Help, dh never went to the dentist growing up and now has horrible teeth problems! add to that a horible fear of the dentist and you understand my problem. anyway, he has two teeth that are horrible decayed and continually get infected. everytime he gets an infection it's two days of missed work, a $100 dentist visit and two bottle of prescriptions. he needs the teeth pulled but refuses. anything we can do to prevent future infections (other than getting the tooth pulled)? thanks

I am right there with your Dh. I have several teeth that need to be pulled/fixed, and I get repeated infections. In fact I am dealing with 3 right now <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> I grew up with pretty limited health insurance, and I have always been extremely dental phobic. It's something very few people, and even dentists understand.<br><br>
Basically your best hope is a good dentist that can sympathize and be kind and respectful in helping your Dh. Check <a href="http://www.dentalfear.com" target="_blank">www.dentalfear.com</a> or <a href="http://www.beyondfear.org" target="_blank">www.beyondfear.org</a>. Tell him he's not alone. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug">
