I dry pail Ethan's diaps (FBs... with microfleece and hemp liners) - and I've noticed lately that his pail is unbelievably toxic when I open it up to put another in. I use tea tree oil and usually that's enough to dispel the tox, but lately it hasn't worked.

I use a Bummi pail liner that I wash with the diaps. We've been CDing like this since DS was born, and I've never had a *gasp* stink issue

Yep, toddler pee reeks! :LOL Especially when they are teething, trying new foods, having a growth spurt, etc.

Strip your diapers, which will probably help some. But after that, I think it's just learn to live with it.

Try not closing the pail lid or at least leaving it cracked open so it can get a little air circulation.

You can also try sprinkling baking soda over the diapers.

The only other thing, if those don't work, is to wash diapers very frequently... Like at least once a day...

yeah, doing a small load every day seems like a good idea. i think once they get older and are eating more food and their diet is not mostly breastmilk anymore, their pee just starts to stink. and then it sits in the pail amongst other pee, and the pees gather and well....

although, leaving the pail open to get more air circulation scares me.
: i would think it would just fill up the whole laundry room then...

Oof - daily washes - not sure I can go there. I do a diap wash every 2-3 days and as it is that's a pain. Glad at least that he's not the only one - and I will definately try some baking soda to help, maybe a little venting too.

I probably wouldn't mind doing a more frequent wash if I would get off my duff and buy a second bag - guess it's about time!

Thanks all!
