Ok experienced mamas...what are your favorite toys or activities for a 6 mo? He can sit up well, loves to roll over and scooch around on his belly, but not crawling yet. I am getting bored with the stuff we have and am ready to get some new ideas!!!

TIA!

My guys love rattles of any kind. . . basically anything that makes a sound when they shake it. You could make some using containers and rice/beans (I made some with my prenatal vitamin bottles. . . although this may not be the best idea since it makes them think pill bottles are toys
: ). We also have several store-bought shakers made with bells, grains, tamborines, etc.

Their favorites are these "silver" (I think they're stainless steel or something) rattles that are really cold feeling on their gums.

Mirrors are really fun. Hang one on the wall where your baby can sit in front of it. Sometimes I take my kids into dressing rooms at stores just to let them play with the mirror. . . Good rainy day activity
.

Playing in the leaves/grass. . . Jaz and Luke love to explore the different textures.

Swings! We hung a little tykes swing from the ceiling in our living room (playroom), and the boys LOVE it. They like to play the "I'm gonna catch your toes!" game, and varitations on peek-a-boo while they swing.

Have fun!

Andrew loves:

Dishes - Large cooking pot, canning kettle, plastic bowls, measuring cups with short handles, cups....

Cold, sealed soda cans and water bottles

Fisher Price Crawl n Cruise? For when your baby starts pulling himself up. Its sturdy enough that he can pull himself up on it.

Baton - only under supervision because otherwise he can gag himself with it. But it's great to let them hang on and learn to stand up with.

Aaron seems to love anything big that you can take littler things out of. So, we have the Lamaze fish bowl (big fish bowl with 4 fish) and a fire truck made by Baby Gund (unzips to find a fireman, fire hydrant, bucket of water, and dalmation). Diaper bags and my purse are a big hit too

Lindy really likes any kind of long strap or string type of thing (dog leash, jump rope, diaper bag strap, etc.) She can spend a long time manipulating it different ways, looking at it, and putting it in her mouth. At six months, maybe her favorite "toy" was the drawstring on a pair of my shorts. (Obviously, this kind of thing needs to be played with only under close supervision.)

Plastic grocery store bags are another big source of entertainment. Another thing that obviously requires close supervision. (Before I had a baby, I always thought it was kind of funny that bags had that "not a toy" warning - like someone might actually think it looked like a good toy. Little did I know . . .)

At about six months, Lindy also started to enjoy using my sitting or lying down body to try climbing and crawling on (with my breasts as her main goal.)

Thanks for all the good ideas ladies!! Can't wait to try some of them out!!

Daffodil...I know what you mean about the straps! DS absolutely loves the straps on his stroller is always twisting them around and putting them in his mouth.

Amalie is crazy about my old plastic Slinky. I don't leave her unsupervised with it, and I ran it through the dishwasher before letting her play with it (I've had it since I was a kid and it had accumulated a fair bit of dust and gunk). But she loves to sit and shake it, wave it around, listen to the sounds it makes.
