Trade playsilk for mulberry leaves!

167 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Britishmum
My kids just got some silkworm eggs, and guess what? They need mulberry leaves to eat as soon as they hatch, probably in the next couple of days. We have no mulberry where I live!

So, I will happily trade a tie-dyed playsilk to anyone who can mail me a big bag of leaves, including some new-grown leaves.

Anyone able to help out some hungry silkworms for some silk?

Fruitless mulberry work?
Yikes, I don't know - I need mulberry leaves but didnt realise there were different types! I'll get back on the web and find out!
I'd be happy to send you some mulberry leaves. We have a weeping mulberry in our front yard, if that will work.
Here's what I got from the web:

"Silkworms eat almost all types of mulberry but not those fruitless varieties that have big thick hairy leaves."

Anyone got one that isn't a fruitless with big thick hairy leaves???
Mine definitely has fruit...it drops all over my driveway and I track it into the house all the time!
