When you travel, how do you handle it when the sleeping situation is less than ideal? At my MIL's, we usually sleep in a double bed, but the mattress is so soft I don't feel comfortable with DS sleeping in between us like he does at home. And at my parents house, the mattress is great but the headboard has wide slats that I'm afraid he could get his head stuck in between. Other than having us sleep on the floor (not very comfortable) I'm not sure what else to do. We have a pack and play that he naps in sometimes, but I'm not so sure he'd be very happy sleeping in it all night.

Its hard when you are traveling and have to put up with less than ideal situations. I used pillows or towels to block any gaps between the mattress and headboard, Could you use that strategy at your parents house? At my sis's house, my DH does not sleep well in the bed so we use her inflatable queen size mattress. Could you invest in one of those for trips? We have one and use it for camping sometimes too. They are really comfortable if you get them firm.... My DD loves to sleep on it and now will sleep with my sister so DH and I can have a little alone time when we visit.

Good Luck!

I had thougth about the inflatable mattress, but then just read about a baby who was asphixiated (sp?) on one of them, so now they make me a little nervous.

I was thinking about taking cardboard and standing it up between the headboard and the mattress. We used pillows last time though, so that may still work too.

we cosleep but when we travel to MIL's house we have to use a full size bed and for a family of three it just doesn't work out. So, dd uses a pack n play. We have never had any issues and she sleeps really well in it. Granted, I am up all the time bc I miss her and have to check on her-even though she is still right next to us in the same room. My thoughts, the pack n play is harder on me than it is on her:
