Hey! I've been lurking here a while and while I'd love to up/uc, dh isn't quite there yet. He's totally on board with a mw-attended homebirth, but we're having trouble finding one in our area just yet. I'm still very early in my pregnancy (just 6 weeks) and am comfortable going without a care provider except for one thing: I spotted alot around 7 weeks with dd. My ob said it was low progesterone and prescribed supplements, which I took weeks 7-11. I'm trying to prepare myself in case of a repeat of that experience. I know there are natural forms of progesterone available and I'm wondering if anyone here has treated herself for this.

Thanks for any advice/information!

Vitex? Really? I took it while ttc, but I've heard over & over to NOT take it while pregnant.

As for the progesterone cream, is there a recommended dosage? Should I be looking somewhere specific (on-line, I mean) for this kind of information?

Yea,

There have been mixed reviews on taking Vitex while PG, I actually own a entire book on the herb, and it IS considered safe to supplement while PG.

I also have known many many momma's who took it through the 1st trimester, some the entire PG.

For me, the small risk of the herb would outweigh the loss of a baby due to low progesterone.

As far as dosing with cream...I would follow the recommended dose on the tube.

I'm bumping this because I am very interested as well. I had my hormone levels teasted over e yr ago and found low in progesterone. I have a lpd and suspect I'll need progesterone supplementation. I have a blood draw scheduled for tomorrow, but REALLY don't want to take prometrium... Want to hear all thoughts.
