I won't click on the link because spiders give me serious heeby jeebies but how many inches or feet is it? What kind is it and where does it live?

It's a golden orb spider and from the article, it sounds like the average size is the size of an adult hand.
: It also stated that they can get bigger in warmer, more tropical places.

and that is why I don't live in Australia!!! WOW that spider is freakin' huge!!!

Count me as another who thinks that giant spiders are pretty cool
And, those aren't THAT huge, I mean, no bigger (or at least, not by much) than your average bird-eating tarantula

We have golden orb weavers all over teh place (I'm in Brisbane so FAR south east of taht beast!) but I haven't seen one quite that big. They're actually very docile spiders and I only bother them if they decided to throw a web up in a place where people are likely to walk into it
