My DD is almost 2 weeks old and I still have not been able to get her latch on. 3 different lactation consultants at the hospital tried to help me, but for some reason, it's almost like my nipple doesn't reach far enough in her mouth. I pump like crazy to feed her and sometimes still have supplement with formula for when I am exhausted..anyone have any tips that worked for them to help get their little one to latch? I have tried every possible position, even have my husband help me with it, but nothing so far...Thanks

It's hard to know what might be going on. I'm afraid I don't have much to suggest.

There are tons of tips at Kellymom: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/start/bas...resources.html

There's sure to be something there that you haven't tried yet. My ds1 needed a nipple shield to latch at first, in combination with the "deep latch technique" which I call "the sandwich technique"

blessings to you and your new DD!

DD and I used a nipple sheild until she was about 3 mo. old. My nips are small and flat, which combined with her tiny mouth, did not make for the ideal BFing circumstances. As DD's mouth grew bigger, we were able to ditch the sheilds. But I am firmly convinced that we would have failed at BFing without them!

Oh, and OP
to MDC!
