I just found this via a link from a UK Midwives Yahoo group. There is a campaign to 'expose' this woman here:
http://socialbaby.blogspot.com/searc...rity%20Exposed

I'm sure all mothers on this forum would like to submit their opposition to this woman (calmy and reasonably, of course, if that is at all possible!)

This is the Cruella deVille woman? She was discussed recently in TAO. She is pretty disturbing.

Wow! Sad thing is, I knew a parent just like her on a mainstream board. I no longer go there; I cry for those babies & children.

Oh phooey! Baby only sleeping from 11-7 every night? She should relax her anti-cosleeping rules and see how long babies sleep then My DD has been sleeping through the night with us from day 3, and if she only slept for 8 hours a night, I'd feel sorry for myself! Baby Girl does 10 pm to 10 am most days, and she's a good napper too!

Maybe if i put my baby outside all night to sleep like a dog it will sleep better.

This is the most ridiculous parenting "advice" I've ever heard in my life. And coming from someone who does not know what it is like to love and be attached to your own child... unbelievable that people listen to this stuff!

Uh I am not sure if I should laugh or cry!! The sad thing is I know a girl who started her baby on solids at 17 weeks to and she has a great BF relatonship with her baby. Well the best that can be had considering she loves babywise and follows it faithfully. Ugh! : The premie line in the article is startling btw.

Is she related to Ezzo..??

"She says she can get a baby sleeping through the night within 24 hours,"
Hmmm, this might contribute to SIDS

"The mistake most mums make is that they don't feed their babies enough." and in the next sentence "I put the babies on a four-hour feeding schedule from the moment they get out of hospital"
Those two statements are contradictary

"I won't have any babies sleeping with their parents in the same room."
Another possible SIDS issue

"I don't care who the mum is, no one wants to be getting up at 3am to feed their baby."
Stereotyping, myth, always/never statement

"And the babies aren't allowed to get too used to breast or bottle milk."
What are they supposed to eat, air?

"I start them on solids at 17 weeks."
Good luck with allergies later in life

"Cuddles are also restricted" ""Imagine having a dog with a ball and you keep throwing it for them. Then all of a sudden you stop and walk away and they don't understand. It will think: 'Why have you stopped playing with me?' It will start barking, dropping the ball at your feet and annoying you."
Read: Babies are annoying and we can compare them to dogs

"You don't need to walk around the house with a child superglued to your hip. They're quite happy on their own."
Another stereotype, myth

"Claire doesn't have kids of her own and doesn't have plans to."
Good! She shouldn't as long as she has this attitude.

"Forget superstition, babies come early and everything has to be ready."
Another stereotype 'always or never' statement

"That's because a new baby can be a huge disruption to a household. "
Read: Babies are a disruption

"leave the baby to sleep outside."
I hope she doesn't mean unattended!

"CLAIRE will be appearing at The Baby Show in Association with Bounty at NEC **********, 11-13 May 2007 and London Earls Court, 19-21 October 2007."
Wish I could be there to protest!

Claire's next book "Your Baby - The Robot"
How sad!

"Go for walks or leave the baby to sleep outside."
: I am totally floored by the whole article!

I like what Elizabeth Pantley wrote in the intro to the no-cry sleep solution....it's not whether babies would be happy in that scenario, it's what they're happy with. I prefer nurturance/interdependence/healthy attachment and I "trained" my children to seek this because I believe these things are conducive to a long, healthy, happy life.

She's a rip-off of G*** F***, whose full name I cannot mention lest MDC get sued...

Someone at work lent my husband GF's book, I told him to burn it.

Do read it in the shop though (don't pay!)--it was the funniest thing I read all year. I hooted my way through it.

OMG reading that made my blood boil.

I just don't understand all these people who take parenting advice from someone who does not have kids of their own. And can't even relate on the level of maternal/paternal instinct yk? I mean I REALLY don't understand why anyone would do that?

I used to be an expert in parenting too at one time.

Then I had my own kids. :
