I post a question early but no response, so maybe I need to ask it differently.

I been on the Depo-Shot for a year, and now off of it, last time I decide to go off it took 6 months before I started to ovulate again and get period, I know I can go to the Dr and they give me something, but insurance don't cover it and money tight right now. So I was wondering is there anything I could try to jump start ovulation, I am not evening getting period right now.

Thanks

You can look into vitex, B6 and other such things. Also make sure that your lifestyle is as healthy as can be: regular exercise, a healthy, veggie-rich diet, no junk food, plenty of sleep (preferably in a truly dark room), not too stressed, take a good multivitamin. Hormones are really sensitive to all this stuff, and your body needs support to rebalance itself. Good luck!

I would also say just get healthy and no stress. I came off the deopo shot after 9/11 and had my period for 6 weeks straight! I kept calling the doctors but they said there was nothing they could do about it, it was happening all over the country since women were so stressed out about the event. I told him that while it impacted me strongly, I was not obesssiving over it. He said just knowing about it was enough to have a real affect on me. Good luck!

A common side effect among my sisters (those two who did Depo) was weight gain, and then no period for six months after.

What fixed it for them was taking vitex capsules, going on a diet and exercise program to get rid of the extra weight, and then their cycles returned. Chart with a BBT to see if you're ovulating even before your period returns, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I was not on depo, but the pill and it took 6 months for me and I think it was acupuncture that jump started it. I had acupuncture and 1 day later I started my period. It is also not cheap, but you may be able to find someone covered by insurance or that is running a Christmas special.

Good luck.

Vitex was going to be my suggestion as well.

I came off depo after 4+ years and got pg 8 months later without ever seeing AF, I was testing once weekly at that point or I would have never known I was pg just would have thought af had finally showed up unfortunatly due to the bad lining I lost that pg. I ended up having to go on clomid to get me oing again since progesterone just make af come didnt trigger O.

Do you chart temperatures and cervical fluid as described in the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility? Sometimes you can see a sub threshold cycle developing even if you aren't ovulating or having periods yet.

Was the doctor going to give you Prometrium? There's a generic version which you might be able to get at one of the places with $4 perscription plan.

I look into Vitex and also look into acupuncture, I don't chart I have Fertility monitor though and will be using that.

I liked to get this started as soon as I can, I am not getting younger lol, so I am willing try anything at this point.

I haven't been to Dr yet, but I know it wouldn't be cover and probably expensive, but I will check into the generics if this dosn't work.

Thanks for all the great advice
