My 3 wks old 12 lbs and has a chunky waist and thighs, he isn't fitting into many of the newborns and smalls I had for him. I like prefolds and don't mind using those but even the infant cpfs barely fit him, I have a hard time getting them to come far enough around his waist for me to snappi them.

I'm not sure what to get him. Out of all the fitteds we have, the only ones I like enough to keep and that fit well are the 6 small Elbees and 4 small Country Cuttins. I need more fitteds and it seems like everything is too hard to get and he is growing so fast, it's scary, so I don't know what size to get. I'll put something on him, like his Luxe Baby WIO, that looked a bit long in the rise about a week ago and now it fits low, under his belly button.

So I need something that will last awhile. I was thinking size 1 Sugarpeas because they are easy to get and have a good size range, but he is a super soaker and I recall them not being the most absorbant. How are they with a doubler?

Any other suggestions? I would like more front snapping fitteds, but also some side snappers too. Maybe Mudpie Babies mediums? I like the look of those ultra trim side snap BeccaBottoms but there would be a wait for those. Ideas? I wish I liked firelfys since they're not hard to get and nice and trim.

Also, how do regular sized cpfs fit? Infants are getting small but premiums seem like they'd be rather bulky, so I was thinking the regular ones. What do you think?

Your little one is growing as fast as mine did! We flew out of newborn and small diapers - I mostly made do with prefolds until DD fit into mediums. DD also grew out of infant CPFs early, so I bought regular. DD is 5 months now and 18-19 pounds, and premiums are still a bit bulky, but the regulars are very nice. I pin or snappi them with a fleece-topped hemp doubler - works great.

hmmm, that's a hard question to answer. do you think he'll continue to grow this quickly? i know that the regular sized prefolds are what i use, because premiums are too big. how bout some one size fitteds? tykie diapers in medium might work, they are side snapping. i wasn't crazy about sugarpeas, but they might be good w/ the doubler. i was going to suggest fireflys but you said you aren't crazy about them. everything else that i can think of is too hard to get. you could get some meos or sandys or kissaluvs to tide you over until you can get your hands on some wahm made stuff?.......... my girls grow so slowly that i don't have any really great advice for you. good luck!!!

My dd fits into size 1 Sugar Peas quite nicely (front snapping). They aren't terribly absorbant but I don't mind sice I gotta change her when wet anyhow. A doubler and a wool cover would be fine for daytime use. He musta been a big boy!? My dd was 8.5 lbs at birth (on EDD at home) and she's about 12 lbs now- at 2 months!

I'm starting to think prefolds are the most practical until he fits into mediums, like you did Brenda, because all the smalls I see go up to only 16 or 17 lbs and he may be there in 2 more months and then I'll have to start over *again*. The only drawback is that he saves up his poops and has huge poopsplosions, and being a bf baby, he has blown right out of prefolds. And I hate washing wool covers over and over. So I guess I better hope Sugarpeas fit well and just stick with those.

I do think he'll keep growing quick for awhile, all of my kids follow the same pattern. They're born big (he was 9 and a half lbs) and then they get really chubby by 6 months and then they start slowing down and end up petite and don't grow much in their second year. My dd was 19 lbs by 5 mos of age and now at 2, she weighs 25. lol. So I wish he would hurry and get to the mediums, because I have tons of those and he will probably stay in mediums through all his diapering days, once he reaches that size.

He is just in between right now, going to be too big for smalls soon but mediums would be bulky.

Thanks for the suggestions/input!

DS is 2 mos and 16 lbs, so I know what you mean about fast growing babies!!!

Muttaqins work well for DS. He started wearing them at 10 lbs.

Med Crickett's hemp w/included doubler also were absorbent enough and fit him well.

We mostly use Wonderoos these days, b/c I'm too lazy to put a cover on him. They RARELY leak, dry fast and I'm hoping they'll fit for a long time!!

The Crickett's snaps aren't hidden, but I never found any marks on DS's fat belly. As far as availability, I'm in the process of selling off most of my fitteds because I am in love w/ Wonderoos!!! I have 7 or 8, so if you want to try one, PM me!!
