My son will be 4 yrs old next month. He is fascinated with scorpions (among other things; spiders, dinosaurs...ya know creepy crawlys). I was thinking of trying to conconct a scorpion birthday cake. Any ideas? I can't figure out how to do the stinger part.

Either that or I could make cupcakes and top them off with a candy scorpion. I was thinking I could make one out of an orange gum drop thingy.Any ideas??

if I can't pull that off I will opt for chocolate pudding with crushed cookies and gummi worms (to look like worms in dirt).

if you were to do a sheet cake it shouldn't be too difficult to cut it into a scorpion shape. you could use an enlarged printout to use as a guide.

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/sub...printout.shtml

I'd just cut the cake into the tail shape, and maybe use licorice sticks for legs?

If it wouldn't be too gross dd got a real scorpion (candied?) lollipop as a party favor recently. I don't know where they were bought but the kids loved them.:

You could do vanilla (or butterscotch) pudding topped with crushed vanilla wafers (to look like desert sand) and toy scorpions?

Here is a picture of a scorpion cake. The caption says they used rice krispie treats for the tail (and claws).

Here's another one that looks like they strung red candies on something to make the tail.

This cake is flat, but the web page has the advantage of step by step pix of how to cut the cake.

Have fun!
