I have tried two wool soakers on my DS now (just soakers, not shorts or anything) and neither of them seemed to fit well.

The first is a LTK soaker - fit ok, but the legs seemed just a bit tight to me.

I have another (unknown brand) soaker, and have the same problem, except on this one the tummy is way too loose in addition to the legs being tight.

If I tried wool shorts would they fit better (since there wouldn't be a cuff right at the top of his leg at the chubby part)?

Anyone have this problem? I need advice from a wool expert. If I could find a really good deal on some knitted wool that would fit well, I'd like to use it at nighttime.

TIA!

My toddler won't wear soakers that are tight on the legs. So, I understand that dilemma somewhat. I buy largeish soakers because I put them over a well stuffed pocket fitted at night. Have you tried an aristocrat? I have seen some cute soakers on ebay lately. I do like soaker shorts at night as well. Soaker shorts seem comfy to me. LOL

Knitted wool was the only thing I could get a good fit on with DS before he P/T. Have you taken measurements over a diaper of the rise, waist, and thigh? That will help you get the best fit. A lot of WAHM's will knit to the measurements you specify for a truly custom fit. I had pretty good luck that way. Also on the TP most put measurements on their for sale posts so you can look and know if you think it would work or not without wasting money and time. HTH!

Editing to add I used Pickle Pants at night - they are shorts style so easier to fit around the legs. www.thecucumberseed.net And these seem to come up on the TP fairly frequently.

We love knitted wool now but it did take a while to find a good fit. The first few things I bought were okay but not great, so I know how you feel.

I have several LTK soakers and the legs are small compared to others I have. I also have other soakers where there are not enough short rows in the back, so to get the rise to cover that CD bum we ended up with a lot of extra in the front so it bunches there. I would say our best fit are ones knit from or similar to the Fern & Faerie pattern.

I
soaker shorts even more though! We have a pair of MM and 2 pairs I knitted from the Perfection Pants pattern and they are all awesome. Much more versatile and comfortable in our experience.

Definitely get some specific measurements before you buy again--chubbiest part of thighs, hips, waist, rise (total and front/back). Hopefully that will help!

i agree with taking measurements and getting a custom made for him.

My dd has a freakishly long rise and chunky thighs so I've always had to do customs. Problem solved.
