Although it is not REQUIRED by our state, they recommend naming your school to use on official documents.

I also thought that if we had a school name, we could get a flag made and raise it on the flagpole in the front yard (I thought it might be fun for the kids to do)

Anyway, it is proving more difficult than I thought. So far I have

Mountain State Academy for Accerlerated Learning (dh says it's too long)

Mountain State Academy for Exceptional Students

Creekside Learning Center

Blessed Life Enrichment Academy (this is my MIL's favorite)

I guess you see my pattern...any suggestions?

I think I like this one best. IMO, it conveys a peaceful atmosphere for your family, and for the learning your kids will do, and that's my aim these days. I think the term "academy" invokes a much more rigorous experience--of course, if that's what you're looking for, then feel free to ignore me

First one is too long.

"Exceptional Students" sounds like a euphemism for developmentally delayed students.

Third one sounds very clinical.

Of your choices, I would go with the last one. But I prefer something less formal sounding, such as Blessed Life School.

I like Creekside Learning Center the best. We also have an "academy" in our name we just came up with a few months ago. I was really surprised at how much dd enjoyed having a name for her school she really got a kick out of it so we had someone airbrush/paint it on a bag for her.

Good luck!

I like Creekside Learning Center too. We took a variation of our last name, translated, and came up with Red Mountain Academy. We are so not academy-ish in our approach to academics (I agree with a PP that academy sounds rather rigorous), but it flowed well.
We've debated adding the caveat of "An All Boys Boarding School" as we have, well, all boys, and they do, most every night, sleep here!

I like both of the Mountain State Academies. Either as they are or just as Mt. State Academy. I'd drop the "Enrichment" off Blessed Life though. It doesn't flow right. I like the "Creekside Learning" part of the other one, but not "Center." Daycares are centers. Schools are either school or academy. I'm sure there are schools out there somewhere that use it, but I've never seen one outside of homeschools. Usually a center is for childcare, and it may cause some confusion down the road.

I like Academy though. Ours is Adventure Learning Academy...it was even before we started the cover school. We just used our original homeschool name because we liked it so much. =D I totally agree that the school name should convey the feel or goals of the school though, so you might want to take a look at the options with that in mind and see what pops for you.

Well, after much debate, I think we have decided on Creekside Academy. I tended to agree w/ Incorrigible in that "learning center" sounded a little too daycare-ish. And everything around here seems to be "Mountain State" something-or-other. Thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate all of your input.

I like acronyms. How about
Creekside Academy for Learned Mountaineers (C.A.L.M)

or
Blessed Academy for Learned Mountaineers (B.A.L.M.)-- I'm thinking of the "Balm in Gilead" not Chapstick, LOL!

or
Creekside Home Academy for Rational (??) Mountaineers (C.H.A.R.M)

I'm sure there more great ones. I seem to be in a rut here.

Creekside Academy is nice too.

Actually, I have what is classes as a river running in my backyard. But here, it just looks like a creek. It is usually shallow and quite lazy here.

Hmmm...do I want our homeschool to be shallow and lazy? I hadn't thought about it that way. HaHa!
