I've had terrible problems with low milk supply almost the entire time I've been nursing, so when DS was approaching 2 I decided to call it quits. I quit pumping, quit taking domperidone, and started trying to distract DS with juice or playtime when he would ask for mimi. It was sort of working, and we'd gone 3 or 4 weeks without nursing at all, when I changed my mind. I did some research on the Mirena IUD and found that it was quite likely that the Mirena is what affected my milk supply. I had the Mirena removed on Monday and I've been taking domperidone and nursing and pumping since. DS is such a trooper--he will nurse and nurse and nurse, getting NOTHING, and not give up. So at least we have that on our side. Everything I've read about relactating refers to doing it for tiny babies, like under 6 months, and it seems they get discouraged. Well DS is nowhere near giving up :LOL ! Yesterday I pumped and got about 1/4 ounce TOTAL from both sides. This morning I got just a little more, so I think I'm making progress. DH is not real thrilled about the whole thing . I told him DS still needs it.

I'm drinking tons and tons of water, pumping at work, nursing at home, and taking domperidone...everyone keep your fingers crossed for me!

Nursing toddlers and older is more about nurturing than nutrition. Honestly, if he's enjoying the nursing relationship, I wouldn't worry about doing anything to increase your supply, but just nurse him whenever he wants to nurse and offer him plenty of healthy foods and drinks at mealtimes and snacktimes.

My hat goes off to you for letting him come back to the breast.
I nursed both of my sons...way past the norm. In the weaning stages now. I say weaning stages because they both ask now and again.
