I have had 3 miscarriages (not consecutively) and want to try again. With my first two it was natural and I was never given restrictions regarding pelvic rest afterwards. With my last mc I had a D & C and was told not to have sex for 4 weeks. Is this standard? Is this different because I had a D & C and they worry about infection? My OB told me I could try again after one cycle. I just wanted some other opinions/thoughts as well. thanks

There seems to be a lot of variation. I was told pelvic rest for 2 weeks, and to wait to TTC for THREE (!!!) cycles. IMHO I think the three cycles sounds like a bit much, as does waiting 4 weeks to even have sex.

I was told pelvic rest for 2 weeks and ttc whenever I felt ready. My midwife said they tell people to wait ttc so that they have time to heal emotionally. My thought was that it would be more painful for me to wait, then to go for it. So, that's what we did (are doing).

I was told to wait for sex for 2 weeks, then TTC whenever I wanted. I had my D&C 12/15, didn't get a period for 12 (!!!) weeks and finally induced a period with progesterone. I'm now 40 days into that cycle with no ovulation. My OB is inducing another period and doing a TSH because she's concerned something may be wrong.
