Hi All! I am TTC#1 right now and am hoping to be able to give my children a Waldorf education. I started my own education in public school and suffered (I eventually went to a Catholic school and fared much better due to smaller class-sizes...) Due to my own experience, researching education was one of the first things I looked into when starting to TTC. The whole philosophy sounds amazing and already in-tune with the life dh and I live (vegan/whole-foods meals, we have a tv only for DH's video games and dvds, no computer in our home, etc...) We are also very lucky to live close to Waldorf elementary and high schools (Pine Hill and High Mowing in Wilton, NH.)
My one question is how Waldorf schools work tuition. The religious school I went to offered breaks to families through working- sometimes it would be working Bingo in the church hall, sometimes it was referreeing sports games, etc.... whatever the parents were good at. The websites I have looked at have been pretty vague, noting that tuition assistance is available and they "try to make a Waldorf education available to everyone who wants it" but there is no actual tuition guidelines posted. DH and I are lower-income and tuition costs would definitely be a concern for me, and if at all possible we would try to make accomodations for the cost before the future kids even come along.
I'm not sure if this question is out of line, but may I ask what I should expect as "normal" for tuition for a year of Waldorf elementary school? Also-does anyone have experience with the schools I've mentioned? I haven't toured the schools yet as I have no children yet, so I'm not sure how these actual schools fare. TIA!!!
