I haven't posted on MDC in forever, but we recently bought a house in desert suburbia, CA. We're thinking of using alternative energies to power the house, but we're looking at the startup costs and getting freaked out. I have been looking into turbines, but can't seem to find anything that isn't HUGE. I don't think our neighbors would appreciate an 11 foot turbine in the backyard. We have a good sized backyard, good wind every day/night, and lots and LOTS of sun. I know I've seen small turbines attached to rooftops before...am I imagining things? What are some cost effective ways to go greener with energy?
