I was just away visiting one of my former midwifery students. She told me
that her aunt is expecting twin boys. The subject of "should they be circumcised?" came up at a family gathering they had. My former student said, "Absolutely not, it's horrible and it's not done anymore." Another family member (male) backed her up completely saying "No one does it these days and it's a terrible thing to even consider." The aunt said "Well, that's good to know---I guess we won't have to bother with that."

You just never know who is going to speak up for boys, do you? I think the times they are a changin'

Someone might want to inform the aunt that hospitals can be "behind the times," though or she may think that what they told her was mistaken when she is offered circ at her delivery.

Oh, no worries about that. . . she's in British Columbia, Canada, where parents have to work hard to find someone to cut their child's genitals.
There were too many mixups happening in the hospitals and they banned
circumcision a long time ago. Parents here also have to pay up to $300.

I'm glad they banned circ........but what were the "mixups"? Were boys getting circ'd when parents didn't want it?

Yes, sometimes a boy named MacDonald would be slated for cutting and the MacDiarmid child would be cut instead. Mixup with name bands being similar.
There was a case last year in Winnipeg where the dr realized a mistake had been made so he went to the mother's room and coaxed her for 45 mins to sign a consent form. A staff member was so appalled they called the press.
Big investigation ensued. I'd love to find those parents and tell them what a good lawsuit they have.
