Are you in or near the Twin Cities?
Do you want to be?

Well, then you have found your tribe! Despite our diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and interests, two things bond us together: living in the coldest state on earth...and the love for our children which warms us. The weekly tribe thread begins anew each Saturday. Watch for the new thread on the main Minnesota/Wisconsin board.

Some of the individuals who post here meet weekly. If you are interested in attending a get together, please post your interest on the thread or send any one of us a PM. We welcome with open arms and minds the input of all parents, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, political view, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, etc

We're still hanging low. I puked this morning and don't feel like going out. The prospect of taking a shower is draining. MIL is coming over in a couple of hours to play with Roo. I can hardly wait. Hope SG is fun and somebody have some spinach pie for me...

Hi mama's!

What a lovely day and now the sky is about to open up with rain -- well it is 7 pm, so that's not so bad, but we were planning on hitting a drive in to see Harry Potter with the munchkins snoozing in back...we'll see

Hope everyone is well.

Batty, did you have a nice time w/o kiddos? There was an awesome show at the 400 two weeks ago and I thought of you.

We had a great garage sale today. I had tons of fabric for sale and well used and cheap kids clothings, but what sold was summer Bugwear, so that was really cool!

Anyone looking for a "reel mower" that kind is person powered? I'm selling one for my brother. It looks beat up, but it cuts and $15 is a lot less than $80 brand new!

Gotta run, the house is a disaster and we're celebrating my mother's bday and young john's tomorrow -- can't believe he's about to turn ONE!

Nice seeing everyone at SG yesterday. It was fun chatting with you all.

Sara, I can't believe John is almost one! How did that happen?

Why am I so excited about doing my laundry today? Our new front-loading washer was delivered this morning and it's been running steadily since the deliverymen left. :LOL Diapers, regular laundry, sheets & towels, kitchen towels... I'm going to have to find some more laundry to do! We got an LG, like Sara Mama has. It's nice.

Working on sewing tiny little newborn diapers. No, not for me. Some are for Kathryn_Xtradone, some are just to keep on hand for future gifts. They are just so cute and fun to make. I just can't believe how TINY they are!

was just talking about front loaders w/ scribbler's c-man...guess they are really cheap across "the pond" compared to the USA's stores prices!

(sorry...)

i don't doubt that, since space is at so much of a premium over there. They mostly keep the washer and dryer in their kitchens instead of having a separate laundry room like many here.

Definitely not cheap here, but worth it, IMO.

Back from Omaha. Great trip with the kids and seeing cousins and all but Angie did not like the long haul but we made it. No ECFE or music this summer. Looking forward to meeting at the Lake etc. Katie waiting for you to call the date and we will all meet up with you.

Helen DH took his ring off the other night while sleeping and I found it in the bed. WE have been married nearly 5 years, little early for the 7 year inch.

Jessikate we love our front loader and Sears has great detergent. Let's try to get together this week since last did not work.

Doula excited for the birth of your new one. What is up with the RED TENT?

And MamaV, hope you feel better soon.

Love to all.

Our front loader washer totally rocks, well worth our tax return money, although now that I'm baking up in our third floor, I kind of would like to spend that money on cooling this space, instead!? I guess no one is ever satisfied?!

We use the Sears oxy clean unscented frontloader detergent too. We also use "Country Save" from the Coop as well, but it doesn't get the clothes as clean, especially the diapers -- I don't mind the stains, but they weren't smelling fresh...

Birthday bash was fun. We were wiped. Life with kids, huh? John was 1, my mom 78 and my oldest nephew turned 21 -- his were the only diapers I had ever changed until james came along?! And they were cloth, with PINS!

Enjoy the sun, all.

We actually have a top loader with front loader qualities. When we bought it three years ago we were told in five years the investment will be made back as the washer uses a 1/5 of the water of normal washers and the washer and dryer use 1/2 the electricity and the washer uses about 1/4 of the detergent. Our washer is the Calypso which was rated as number one by Consumer Report last year.

Wow, I went back and read the tribal thread from the week Peter was born (never got around to it at the time ). It's pretty crazy to read messages telling people not go out on the freeways because one's closed and another's had a 53 car accident when I know that my husband and midwives had to drive Peter to the hospital through that blizzard (and were actually at 280 and 94 driving the other way from the 53 car pileup).

I just posted my birth story: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...46#post1566146

HI all,
I would love a new washer. I prefer to hang dry all my stuff outside, unless the neighbor has a fire going... Our stuff is about 25 years old. I wish it would die, but then I suppose we'd have to sacrifice our family vacation...
I was feeling better yesterday and my friend drove me and Roo over to my mom's apartment so that we could use the pool. My sis is staying there so Roo Roo got to play with auntie in the pool and I got to lay on my noodle. It was so wonderful. Today doesn't look like it's shaping up to be as nice. I was too tired to watch the weather after our excursion. I haven't puked in 3 days!!!! I'm shocked. A few wretches and dry heaves, but nothing I couldn't control.
I have sad news, Roo Roo has weaned. She hasn't nursed in about 5 days and the last time she did, she announced that all the munchies were empty and she just wanted a drink of water. Now when she talks about dark night munchies she just says they are empty. She is soon to be three, so it's not like she didn't get to nurse long, but I expected she'd nurse longer than this. I guess my baby isn't my baby anymore, but my big girl.
My sis came through surgery fine and I think she was going home yesterday. I couldn't get a hold of anyone down there, so I assumed all were at the hospital. I talked with her on Sunday and she was very chatty and ready to leave and rest at home.
I'm off to make breakfast. We do love sleeping in...
