I nursed my older son until a few months after he turned 2 years old. He was only nursing before naptime and bedtime. One day, I offered and he told me 'All done mama' and that was that.
I've had many issues with nursing my twins, but we've come this far. They will be 1 years old on the 25th of this month. They are just not at all interested in nursing. At first I thought it was distractions from big brother, so I nurse them in a quiet room, while brother is playing quietly in his own room. But that did nothing. Then I tried nursing them individually in a quiet room. But still no interest. They latch on, suckle a little then complain b/c nothing is flowing yet. I've been struggling with supply issues and my let down is slow. So I've been pumping and giving them EBM in sippy cups. But its getting to a point where I am not pumping enough for give them exclusively BM. I do not want to give formula - we've come so far with out it.
I figure, most 'mainstreamers' start giving their kid whole milk at 12 months. If I give whatever EBM I can, make sure they eat nutritious meals and get hydration through BM and water - is that enough?
I was expecting to continue nursing much longer - so this is quite a shock for me. I have already done all I can to increase my supply, but it keeps dropping. I did get my first period back this past Sat - don't know if that affects things too.
Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated.
