At my appt yesterday my BP was 140/90, which is the highest it's allowed to be. I've had a pretty high BP this entire pregnancy--usually 130s/90 so I guess it's no surprise. My MW says if it's any higher next week then I'm having the baby. Which in some ways is fine--I'll be almost 39 weeks. But, I'm planning a homebirth and don't want to be induced
.

So, I'm supposed to take it easy this week--which dang hard to do when I want to be nesting. Luckily I did most of the deep cleaning last week. I was hoping to get the nursery set up soon but DH is dragging his feet instead of installing the floor. Obviously I can't do anything to help now. It's so frustrating to me that he waits until the last possible minute to get stuff done
: . I think I just need to calm down and accept that it's not going to be done. All the babe's stuff is set up and ready in the corner of my bedroom and she's going to be sleeping with me anyway so it's not like she needs a room, right? I just hope I can get the co-sleeper to fit in a very crowded space.

I've been trying to visualize birthing in the hospital now that it's a possibility--but, ugh, I don't like the idea at all. I mean, I'll do it if it's for the best, but I don't even have a birth plan and I hate having to deal with all their policy. I like to be in complete control of my birth, yk. My MW sent me home with the birthing tub yesterday and I just so wish I would go into labor NOW. So, any ideas on to bring on labor when you're on partial bedrest

I swear, after all the crazy stuff that has happened this pregnancy, if they have to take that kid out of my ear I don't care any more as long as it's safe and healthy.
My OB says there are a lot steps between here (with bp meds) and induction, but I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the possibility. I'm cool with a hospital birth, but I'd like it to be as natural as possible aside from that. I just seem to be a little whirling dervish of risk.
The upside of induction for me is that I will definately get MY doctor for the delivery as opposed to whoever the heck is on call. My doctor knows my "list". She knows what's important to me as far as the birth and immediately after, and she'll respect it.
Things around our house are slowly falling apart. I'm not on bedrest, but I'm supposed to be taking it very easy. I can do laundry, but can't vacuum. This is frustrating. I think this is more frustrating to me than not getting the birth I want. I so wanted everything in the house to be just so for when baby came home, and it's not going to be.
I don't know anything about inducing labor. Just wanted to commiserate.

springbabes- how are you doing? I ended up in a similar situation. Although I was not planning a homebirth, I did NOT want to be induced! Despite my best efforts, BP just wouldn't cooperate and we induced Saturday. The birth was wonderful due to my midwife. She ran interference for me at the hospital and accomodated my wishes as best she could. Can your HB MW attend at the hospital? I am in Salt Lake, and delivered at St Marks. If I can help you at all, I would be happy to.
Bedrest is hard, but there will be time to set up the nursery later. Right now, your baby needs a healthy momma!

I know what you mean. A few weeks of bedrest and high risk talk and I was willing to get Claire here any way that would be safe. My birth plan seemed less important. Even a clean home wasn't important anymore. I let go of alt of expectations in the last two weeks, and I am okay with that. Baby is here and healthy and I am too. (I ended up with full blown toxemia after the birth, so even my baby moon did not end up as panned).

Take care and be gentle to yourselves in these next few weeks!

This is hard for me too. I just want everything clean and perfect. I don't want to have a homebirth in a messy house! Yesterday I was resting on the couch, instructing my DDs how to clean and my DH says, "No wonder your blood pressure is so high--you're totally stressing yourself out!" Ok, so not helpful

I feel good
. I'm trying not to be nervous. My mom says her blood pressure always got borderline high a few days before she went into labor so maybe I'll get lucky. I actually went to Target yesterday and used their blood pressure machine and it was only 129/81. I have no idea what to think of that because I haven't measured anywhere near that low the entire pregnancy. I wonder how accurate those machines are. I'm going to have my RN friend come over today and take my blood pressure the old-fashioned way.

If have to deliver at a hospital it will be American Fork. My midwife can't attend me, but that is where her backup docs deliver, plus it's closest to my house. I had my first baby there so I think I can handle it--I've got a lot more birthing experience under my belt now
.

So, how are you doing? It has got to be so nice to have your little girl here!

I'm not sure how accurate those store machines are. I ended up buying a BP cuff at Costco for $39. It helped me regulate my activity and I could see how much laying down helped. Also, we were able to keep BP stable durring labor with massage and breathing. Unfortunately, it turned into toxemia 3 days AFTER the birth and I had to be readmitted. (My midwife said this happens maybe once every 2 years in her practice) I am home again but on modified bedrest still.

We're glad to be home. Claire is nursing great despite being 37 weeks. My kids are adjusting pretty well. They are ready for me to get out of bed and resume a little normal life around here (me too actually!)

I hope things remain stable for you and you get your homebirth. It sounds like you are okay if things work out differently. I'll be thinking of you. How far along are you?
