I fell asleep on the couch for a little bit while DH and I were watching a movie and then woke up and decided I was too tired and had to go to bed. Well, I got all set up in bed and ready to fall asleep and... nothing. I can't sleep if my life depended on it right now! I just can't get comfortable at all and I feel so FULL, like it feels like I ate too much and now I can't breathe! Laying on my back and either sides doesn't feel good and it just sucks!
11 more weeks. I can do it. Please tell me I'll get SOME sleep before then

I am having major issues with falling asleep and then staying asleep. If I DO fall asleep it is around midnight and then I wake up by 4am without fail... it is getting really really tiring

Yes, I had problems last night too. I probably only got a few hours but now I mostly feel WIDE AWAKE. Maybe the stars were aligned strangely or something.

Have you mentioned your sleeping trouble to your midwife (you said you're giving birth at a birth center, so I assume you see a midwife)? Mine told me that if I had trouble sleeping, I should let her know because there's stuff she can give me to help. She even indicated that her remedy would depend on the kind of sleep trouble I was having - falling asleep vs. staying asleep. I have no idea what she had in mind (herbs I'm guessing), but it might be worth asking. Sorry you're so tired! It sucks to go without sleep!

Have you learned any relaxation techniques in your Bradley class yet? I plan on using some hypnobirthing stuff to help calm my mind and settle down. I'm uncomfortable, too. So is Eric, as I woke him up to pee at 4:30 this morning, and neither of us really fell back asleep until his alarm went off at 6:30. Ugh!

I've been having trouble falling asleep too...it seems like I just can't get comfortable.

As for staying asleep...I usually need to pee 2-3 times a night and DD sometimes wakes up 1-2 times a night. I rarely wake up on my own because of insomnia.

I know how you feel. In addition to my snoring husband, I just wake up at least 4-5 times a night and have such a hard time going back to sleep. It's not even that I am uncomfortable or can't get into a good position - I just have a racing mind that won't calm down. I use all the relaxation techniques but I always end up back where I started, with a crazy brain!

Talk to your midwife...maybe she can recommend something like melatonin or the Bach's rescue sleep drops. There's lots of herbals out there that help with sleep.

Some nights I have no issues sleeping and others it seems like I just toss and turn and get up to pee. I also have a snoring husband that is constantly waking me up on those nights. Thank goodness I have been able to take naps during the day since I am home now.

Macks silicone ear plugs are my best friends. Helps with the snoring husband as well as helping quiet my mind. Like hearing my breathing so loud in my ears quiets my mind.

I have been having a hard time falling back asleep when I get up to pee too close to daybreak. So I sit there at 4 or 5 AM wishing sleep to come. It sucks.
