I don't really EC, though I guess I might be considered a part-time EC'er. DS has gone on the potty during diaper changes since he was 8 months old, and now that he's outgrowing his current diaper stash I figured I'd let him run around naked as much as possible, or at least change his diaper crazy frequently to fing out how often he's peeing.

So I am, of course, rewarded by poop all over the off-white carpet. LOL At least we rent!

He was refusing to eat solids most of the weekend, so it's almost exclusively breastmilk poop - in case that makes a difference (which I assume it does since BM poop is water soluble in diaper laundry...). Anyway, I wiped out what I could and now have some OxyClean soaking on it. Honestly I don't care if it bleaches the carpet. We've rented this place so long, the landlord will be replacing the carpet when we move anyway (I also threw up on it while pregnant. Lovely stuff!).

Any other suggestions for both cleaning and sanitizing????

Some suggestions so this doesn't happen again, too? DS doesn't grunt a whole lot when he poops and he is not pooping regularly.

He's almost 13 months old if that makes a difference.

I haven't had any issues with poop on the carpet but I do have great recommendations for you, from experience with spills and even a dd who has reflux. Oxy carpet cleaner is great but it's toxic so if you use it do it when your ds is sleeping and wont be playing anytime soon. An even better choice that I just discovered is the Chlorox Anywhere sprey works really good and is then safe around kids! I have an in home childcare so I use that stuff a lot!

On white carpet you could use borax solution.

I used Stanley Steamer's enzyme spot cleaner several times. . .

it worked nicely.

Yeah, I go for pet mess cleaners.

I get Nature's Miracle from the pet store (not for ds2 yet but have used it any number of times for when an older potty-learning child decides to strip and do something in the living room.
"I see you kept your pants dry! can we do it on the kitchen floor next time please? good job knowing that you had to go, anyhow.") The first time that I asked a Wal-Mart employee to direct me to the Sport Wash (which I wanted for diapers), she told me all about how she uses it to clean up after her incontinent elderly dog, so that might could be an option too... no enzymes in that.

Between OxyClean and Nature's Miracle, the spot looks pretty good! The dogs have not even bothered it, so the Nature's Miracle must have worked pretty well!

Thanks!
