The mom, I just am trying to imagine what kind of freakish shallow person has such a low self esteem that she fears losing her boyfriend so badly she would do something like that? Serious mental health issues come to mind. But maybe I'm making those excuses for her because I just cannot fathom it, she's got to be mentally ill, right?

I feel really bad for this girl. I hope she gets counseling so she's able to process what's happened and move on with her life in a healthy way. I hope that both responsible adults pay for their crimes.

situations similar to this happen pretty frequentlty. Its unimaginable to us here to do something like this. But there are also so many moms here that argue against CPS and foster care. I have worked with two girls in our foster homes whose parents (one a dad and one a mom) also offered their daughters up --one to pay a drug debt and one cause the boyfrind asked--. I know I am going ot but...its also so frustrating when MDC moms dismiss the need for cps and the foster care system!

I think it has more to do with the system and the power that it has, being abused. No one would argue that in a case like the one we are talking about, CPS should have a definet role. The issue comes up when CPS fails to do the job properly, or with an abuse of power.
