It appears yesterday I was exposed to chicken pox. One of the little ones in my dd dance class developped it.

I have had them already, and was immunized as a child. I'm 33+ weeks along... is there anything I should be worried about?

I don't think so.

This recently happened to me.
I have two children, a 6 year old son and my new daughter is 12 days old. She was born September 12.

On August 24 we had gone to a birthday party, the next day we learned that a child at the party had come down with the chicken pox. He had apparantly had marks on the day of the party.

I talked to my doctor and my son's doctor. My doctor said that if I had chicken pox as a child then I had nothing to worry about.

Our main concern was my son catching it and passing it on to baby. My son had the vaccine, but it has a failure rate of 10-30%

Luckily, he did not catch it and everything turned out fine. But, it was a big scare for me since I had read some pretty terrifying things about a mother catching chicken pox late in the third trimester.

So, if you've had it, no need to worry. If you're not completely sure if you've had it (I wasn't) there is a blood test that can check for immunity.

Best of luck!
i spoke to my NP at the OB office. I was already tested for immunity and I am in fact immune.

My 2 girls haven't had it and that's my concern, my time is coming soon and baby might get it. We spoke about it, the np and me. She said since the girls have both been exposed 3 or 4 times, it's likely they may have had it with minimal marks, only one or 2 that could be mistaken as scratched mosquito bites..lol... or they siply have build an immunity withthe exposure. She said it is unlikely baby would get it.

if you've had it and are bfing babe he or she should be fine as you will pass on your antibodies - my ds1 had ch p when ds2 was born (literally came down with them a day after the birth) and ds2 was fine
