Tomorrow I'm scheduled for an ultrasound, I was just wondering if at 8wks3days it'll be trans-vaginal or normal? Google is failing me on this info.

I had one at 7wks with last pregnancy and it was vaginal...wow, unpleasant experience.

Any idea?

At this point in pregnancy, I think it's pretty easy for them to do the ultrasound abdominally. Good luck

WHY?!?!? do they need to do transvaginal exams so long? Ick! Ick! Ick! I've got an appointment here this morning and I hope he doesn't stick me with the wand again.

I had a u/s at 7ks 5 days. They tried to do abdominal but I'm quite 'fluffy' so they needed to switch to the vag.
Hearing the heartbeat was worth the humiliation though!

I just had one at 9 weeks and he said usually less than 12 wks they recommend vaginal. Was totally unprepared for THAT. He tried with abdominal but wanted better view.
Having a full bladder might give you a better chance with abdominal

I had my first U/S at less than 7 weeks and they did it abdominally and we could see everything just fine. I was glad they did it this way because DH would be a bit weirded out by the vag u/s and he wanted to be there.

You can ask them to try abdominal first and if it's not good enough, then they can resort to poking and prodding your insides. Yeck.

I honestly don't worry about what my partner thinks of the u/s technique. I'M the one who gets wierded out everytime my doc waves his magic wand. EWWWWWWW!!!!!

I got pregnant and am still under the care of a fertility Dr. The transvaginal u/s is like my BFF. Yesterday was awesome, they thought there were 2 sacs so I easily had that thing inside me for 20 minutes. It was awesome.
I was expecting to see my tonsils at any moment.

I had a great u/s tech (she's also a good friend, so I'm biased.) I'm fluffy, and she was still able to see the baby and the heartbeat adequately via abdominal u/s. However, she noticed something she wanted to get a clearer picture on (turns out I have a bicornuate uterus), so we did end up having to break out the dildo-cam. Luckily, though, she lets her patients self-insert, so there's no contact or lack of modesty, since it's really long and she's holding the other end.

I had an U/S yesterday and I am "fluffy" too, she easily saw everything and heard the hb, I was very surprised, I'm 8w. BUT I requested the internal scan!I wanted more detail and I got it. What was a blob w/a flicker on the external was a gummy bear with little legs and arms on the internal....it measured differently too. That's what I wanted, detail, to calm my nerves. She also lets you self insert so it's not so uh...uncomfortable and honestly I don't find it all that uncomfortable physically, I mean, you kind of have to get used to it when you are having a baby!

As far as dh being there, he has seen everything so I don't care. Isn't that how we got here in the first place? He doesn't care either as far as I know! It's not like he's sitting at my feet...that would be a little strange!

dildo-cam! OMG, I just get the willies whenever I think of that horrible, evil device!

Oh and one other thought, I would be very, very uncomfortable if it was a male doing the procedure, I have never had a male doctor and when I go to the imaging center I request a female. I know that helps me a lot with my comfort level!

I've almost always had vaginal u/s before 10 weeks. The alternative has never been pleasant. Twice before they have used a catheter to fill up my bladder for me in order to do an abdominal u/s.

I don't really mind the "dildo cam" too much since the u/s tech has always let me insert it myself.
