So I was showering this morning and while doing my monthly breast exam ( it runs in my family ) I accidentally "milked" myself! It was just clear slightly tinted white liquid but boy was I surprised! There was a lot and it came out both nipples.... then I got curious . Since I am planning on BF exclusively I have read tons of information on breastfeeding and how to do it and how to stimulate your milk flow.... So yes I did just that and surprise surprise I was leaking like crazy everywhere! So I know this would happen eventually but, isn't it too early for this? I'm due April 1..... Anyone else having this happen?

I don't know if it's weird or early - but my breasts have been out of work for almost two years and I'm 20 weeks pregnant, but I can still express a bit of milk if I try.

Awesome!

You don't have to do anything to up your production before birth, but this is a good sign your body is on top of it.

(Other readers) who don't have any signs, don't stress out either; I have oversupply (too much milk the entire time I nurse) and during pregnancy can't express a drop of colostrum to save my life, even in the last weeks.

this started happening at 19 weeks with my last pregnancy. So I fully expect it pretty soon with this one. Like the PP said, there is no need to 'prepare' at all for breastfeeding (in that respect...some reading and a LLL meeting wouldnt go amiss )

I'm still nursing DS so... yeah LMAO. I have milk.
I think it happens at different times for everyone though. If you were, say, 11 week I would think it would be super early but you're 20+ so it might be on the early side but not unheard of.
Congrats...? LOL

With my DD one breast started leaking colostrum sometime right after 20 weeks. It leaked a ton! It started when we were at the movies...I just looked down and my shirt was soaked right there. Good thing it was dark! It took me by surprise.

But it's totally normal to leak a lot of colostrum, or none at all. One of my boobs leaked and one didn't, and both made milk.

Get some cloth breast pads!
